During yesterday’s meeting of Miroslav Lajčak with Albin Kurti in Pristina, the need to immediately start the implementation of the plan for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina proposed by the European Union was expressed. The Prime Minister of Kosovo even expressed his readiness to sign the relevant agreement in Ahrida.
Vucic’s “red line”.
Miroslav Lajčak will continue the discussions with political actors in Pristina today, while from Monday he will start his contacts in Belgrade with the Serbian political leadership.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic made it clear in an interview on a private television channel that he is not going to sign any agreement that would define Kosovo as an independent state.
“Citizens of Serbia should know that it doesn’t even cross my mind to sign something that would be a capitulation of Serbia,” Vucic said. He also stated that “Serbia will not give its consent to the accession of Kosovo to the UN and will not accept it silently”.
It is noted that the European plan for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina does not ask Serbia to recognize the independence of Kosovo, but states that it will not oppose its joining the UN and other international organizations.
