Active hostilities at the front will continue in the near future. In mid-summer, an assessment of the possibilities of the Russian Federation will be made.

This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadym Skibitsky.

“Let’s not predict for the whole year. I will say this: in the next 2-3 months there will be active hostilities, both offensive and defensive, because our strategic goal and goal is the liberation of all our territories,” he said.

According to him, the Russians will still try to complete those tasks “to say whether they have finished their ‘special military operation’ or not.”

“Nevertheless, we will focus on the middle of summer – will the enemy succeed in fulfilling his plans for modernization, regrouping, formation of new formations, units, how will they reform,” Skibitsky said.

He recalled that the Russian command had already officially announced the reform and restoration of the Leningrad and Moscow military districts. “After that, it will be possible to assess the capabilities of the Russian Federation and predict the possible nature of Russia’s actions already for the autumn-winter campaign,” added the Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

Counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a major counter-offensive in early June. According to official data, in two weeks the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated 8 settlements in Donetsk and Zaporozhye regions. To stop the counteroffensive, Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station on June 6.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the advance of Ukrainian troops at the front is not going fast now, but the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine last fall also began in a similar way.

According to a survey by the Razumkov Center, 93% of Ukrainians believe in victory , and half (50%) are convinced that it will come before the end of 2023.
