The “Chinese Film Days”, part of the “Happy Chinese New Year” celebrations, kicked off Friday night in the Romanian capital Bucharest, marking the first commercial distribution and screenings of Chinese films in cinemas across the country.

On this occasion, Han Chunlin, Chinese Ambassador to Romania, pointed out during the opening ceremony that it was the first time that the two countries conducted film cooperation in a fully commercial mode, which offers new ideas and new channels for future exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture.

For her part, Irina Margareta Nistor, a Romanian film critic, hailed the release of Chinese films in Romania, hoping that local audiences could better understand modern and contemporary China through the film festival and calling on the Romanian and Chinese film industries to strengthen exchanges and cooperation.

About 80 people, including local officials, members of Romanian cultural circles and friendship organizations, as well as overseas Chinese in Romania, attended the opening ceremony.
