Uruguayan President Jose Mujica asked that his friend, former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, be well, during an interview posted by an Argentine website and quoted in Workers” Party (PT) website.
‘All I want is Lula to be well. Because this game is not over. We will never reach the perfect world or touch the sky with our hands,’ Mujica said.
The former president has officially removed from politics since he resigned to his country’s Senate, claiming to be ‘tired of the long journey’ since early 1970s, when he was still a young revolutionary leader.
The PT note says that ‘even so, charismatic Pepe, as Mujica is known, has not renounced his strong positions in defense of democracy and the institutional stability so threatened throughout the region.’
During the interview, the former Uruguayan leader also criticized the progress of the neoliberal ideals and asked the progressive camps to think of new ways to conduct the debate facing the new political scene established in the world in recent years.
