Funeral services were held Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Sherman Missionary Baptist Church for Essie Martin Miller, 95,of McComb. Rev. Alphonse Patterson, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Rose Bower Church Cemetery.
Ms Miller passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Born October 22, 1914, in Amite County, Ms Miller was the daughter of Eugene and Fannie Eubanks Martin, both deceased.

HELEN T. WESLEY

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Rabenhorst Funeral Home of Baton Rouge for Helen Thornton Wesley, 86, of Baton Rouge. Rev. Ron Tyndale officiated. Burial was in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Robert Campbell, Glenn Holden,l Brandon Holden, Harold W. Murray, James Lee Wallace, Bill Stephenson, Morrie Eisenburg and Lee Chastant.
Ms Wesley passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Baton Rouge.
Born in Smithdale, Ms Wesley was the daughter of Edgar Eugene Thornton and Ottie Lee Burr Thornton, both deceased.

WINNIE MCGEHEE WHELAN

Memorial services were held Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana for Winnie McGehee Whelan, 104, of Petal, MS. Rev. Philip L. Stagg, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Bogalusa officiated. Burial was in Hillview Memorial Gardens of that town.
Ms Whelan passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Bedford Care Center in Petal, MS.
Born June 13, 1905, in the Liberty Area, Ms Whelan was the daughter of John Clinton and Adella Gardner McGehee, both deceased.

JERRY 'BUCK' BYRD

Religious services were held Sunday, April 25, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster for Jerry “Buck” Byrd, 77, of Centreville. Bro. Bernard Waites officiated. Burial was in Talbert Cemetery near Gloster.
Mr. Byrd passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville.
Born August 4, 1932, in Rosetta, Mr. Byrd was the son of Cletus and Tennie Mae Berryhill Byrd, both deceased.
Mr. Byrd retired from the U.S. Forestry Service as a Forestry Technician.
Mr. Byrd was a member of the Church of Christ.

W.L. WHITTINGTON

Funeral services were held Monday, April 26, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Brandon Baptist Church for W.L. Whittington, 70, of Brandon. Dr. Clarence Cooper officiated. Burial was in The New Brandon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Cossar, Michael Tolbert, Whitt Conner, Sid Cox, Ronnie Adcock and Greg Wilkinson.
Mr. Whittington passed away Friday, April 23, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center, following a courageous battle with leukemia.
Born February 22, 1940, in Liberty, Mr. Whittington was the son of the late Clayton and Rose Whittington.

FAYE MASSINGALE

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Robinson Baptist Church for Faye Lorena White Massingale, 70, a resident of Carrollton, Texas and formerly of Peoria, MS. Rev. Donald Dick officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home of McComb.
Pallbearers were Brett Massingale, Jason White, Brandon Biggs, Rusty Biggs, Tyler Touchstone and Bobby Thomas.
Mrs. Massingale passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at Autumn Leaves Assisted Living in Flower Mound, Texas.

WILLIS DARDEN

Religious services were held Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Centreville Baptist Church for Willis Chisholm Darden, 68, of Centreville. Dr. Dennis Johnsey officiated. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Curt Hughes, John Curtis Hughes, Andrew Hughes, Bucky Darden, Thomas Greer, Darden Brady, Steve Brady and Dan Dalton.
Mr. Darden passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Wilkinson County Senior Care in Centreville.
Born January 30, 1942, in Centreville, Mr. Darden was the son of Andrew Jackson “Jack” Darden and Doris McGraw Darden, both deceased.

ALICE E. WILSON

Funeral services were held Friday, April 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Terry’s Creek Baptist Church for Alice “Granny” Evans Wilson, 86. Rev. David Fortenberry, Rev. Todd Sumrall and Bro. Clark Wilson officiated. Burial was in Amite River Baptist Church cemetery in Amite County, with Jones Family Funeral Services of McComb in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Terry, Paul and Robert King. Phillip Chuter, Jason Wilson and Chuck Tate.
Honorary pallbearers were Stephen and Christopher Wilson, Michael, Eric and Joseph Crespi, John Bond and Lewis King.

MARY MARSALIS

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Liberty for Mary Marsalis, 69, of Liberty. Minister Hugh Washington officiated. Burial was in Holden Town Cemetery in Liberty.
Mrs. Marsalis passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson after a lengthy illness.
Born June 28, 1940, in Amite County, Mrs. Marsalis was the daughter of Prince and Claver Jackson, both deceased.

WILLIAM "BEAR" TRAVIS

Funeral services were held Monday, April 12, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church for William A. “Bear” Travis, 74, of Summit. Rev. Harry Johnson and Rev. Allen Dearing officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Travis passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Born October 29, 1935, in Summit, Mr. Travis was the son of Ed and Beulah Johnson Travis, both deceased.
Mr. Travis was a master plumber, and a member of Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church. He was an avid fox hunter.
