HENRY BLADES

Religious services were held Monday, June 28, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home for Henry Blades, 81, of Liberty. Bro. Merrill Blalock officiated. Burial was in Lilly Cemetery near Liberty.
Mr. Blades passed away Friday, June 25, 2010, at Liberty Community Living Center.
Born May 6, 1929, in Amite County, Mr. Blades was the son of Ed Blades and Kattie Jenkins Beasley, both deceased.
Mr. Blades was a former farm worker.
Mr. Blades is survived by one sister, Gracie Morgan of Liberty; one brother, Lee Chisolm of Brookhaven; and numerous nieces and nephews.

W.R. "BILLY" MORRIS

Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb for W.R. “Billy” Morris, 81, of Summit. Rev. Joel Williams officiated. Burial was in Mars Hill Cemetery in the Mars Hill Community of Amite County.
Mr. Morris passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Liberty Community Living Center.
Born April 15, 1929, in Amite County, Mr. Morris was the son of Henderson A. and Mary Oaks Morris, both deceased.

CLIFTON ODIS PERSICK

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church for Clifton Odis “Papa Jack” Persick, 76, former longtime resident of both Baker, Louisiana and Liberty. Burial was in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near Liberty, with Brown Funeral Home of Gloster in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Persick went to be with the Lord Monday, June 14, 2010, at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, Louisiana.
Mr. Persick was a former employee with Copolymer Rubber and Chemical Corp., where he retired after forty-plus years of service.

BERTHA JOHNSON

Funeral services were held Friday, June 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty for Bertha Whittington Johnson, 89, of Liberty. Rev. Sherman Adams and Rev. Ernest Whittington officiated. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Ginn, Brent Robinson, Russell Cruise, Joey Johnson and grandsons-in-law, Casey Harden and Brett Bailey.
Ms Johnson passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Liberty.
Born November 22, 1920, Ms Johnson was the daughter of Louis and Nancy Whittington, both deceased.

JERRY FREEMAN

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood, Louisiana for Jerry Clayton Freeman, 60, of Kentwood. Rev. Walt Baudoin and Rev. Mike Horchek officiated. Burial was in Hutchinson Cemetery in Kentwood.
Mr. Freeman passed away Monday, June 14, 2010, at his residence.
Born February 17, 1950, in McComb, Mr. Freeman was the son of Claude and Avie Bass Freeman, both deceased.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by two sisters, Margarette Guidry and Hilda Smith; and a brother, Wilburn Freeman.

MINNIE PEARL BARRON

Graveside services were held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at East Fork Cemetery in Amite County for Minnie Pearl Reeves Barron, 88, of the East Fork Community in Amite County. Rev. Tim Freeney officiated. Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home of McComb was in charge of arrangements.
Ms Barron passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Liberty Community Living Center.
Born November 18, 1921, in Bogue Chitto, Ms Barron was the daughter of Joseph Ernest and Carrie Myrtle Clark Reeves, both deceased.
Ms Barron was a homemaker and operated The Snack Shack in Liberty for many years.

DOROTHY READY

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Pentecostal Church in McComb for Dorothy Ready, 71, of McComb. Rev. Terry Ballard and Rev. Jerry Terrell officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Jones Family Funeral Services of McComb in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Cody Ready, Levi Ready, Jeff Ready, Jimmy Phelps, Johnny Mote and James Steele.
Ms Ready passed away Monday, June 14, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

WILLIE JAMES JACKSON

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Star Hill C.M.E. Church in Gloster for Bro. Willie James Jackson, 67, of Centreville. Rev. Garrick Thompson officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Bro. Jackson passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Born October 31, 1943, in Amite County, Bro. Jackson was the son of Willie Henry and Cephalee Jackson, both deceased.
In addition to his parents, Bro. Jackson was preceded in death by grandparents, Mayda and Norwood Van Norman; and a duaghter, Carolyn Jackson.

MELANIE WILSON BENOIT

A memorial service was held Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Thibodaux, Louisiana for Melanie Wilson Benoit, 33, native and resident of Thibodaux.
Mrs. Benoit’s spirit winged its flight to heaven Thursday, June 3, 2010.
Born August 18, 1976, Mrs. Benoit was the daughter of Bobby C. and June Wilson of Thibodaux.
Mrs. Benoit is survived by her husband, Dwayne “Dino” Benoit; her daughter, Brittany, 17; her son, Dylan, 13; her parents; her brother, Bobby “Andy” Wilson of Thibodaux; and her grandmother, Barbara Dixon Wilson of Liberty.
