CHARLES RICHARD SHULTZ

Charles Richard Shultz, 88, of Smithdale, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at his residence. He was born December 30, 1921 in Duquesne, PA. He was the son of Wesley G. and Margaret Elizabeth Treece Shultz. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant with 20 plus years service having retired in July 1964. At the time of his retirement he held the highest enlisted rank and also had a Reserve rank of Major.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Duquesne and attended Grace Way Church of the Nazarene in Summit.

ZELDA MAE HIGGINS

Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster for Zelda Mae Higgins, 67, of Gloster. Brother Carl McClain officiated. Burial was in Higgins Cemetery, near Liberty.
Mrs. Higgins passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Born May 10, 1943, in Amite County, Mrs. Higgins was the daughter of Burton and Lorena Berryhill Huff, both deceased.
Mrs. Higgins was a homemaker and faithful member of First Assembly of God in Gloster.

WILLIAM WASHINGTON

Memorial services were held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Young’s Funeral Home in Summit for William James Washington, 77, a native of Amite County and resident of Waukegan, Illinois. Larry Bates officiated. Burial was in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Washington peacefully departed this life Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
Born April 9, 1933, in Amite County, Mr. Washington was the son of William and Ethel McGhee Washington, both deceased.

BERTHA LEE BENDER

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Sherman M.B. Church for Bertha Lee Bender, 53, of Snellville, Georgia, and formerly of Liberty. Rev. Edward Boss officiated. Burial was in Tickfaw Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Bender passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born July 20, 1956, in Amite County, Mrs. Bender was the daughter of Prince and Claver Lee Jackson, both deceased.
Mrs. Bender was an educator.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bender was preceded in death by two sisters; three sisters-in-law; and six brothers-in-law.

VIRGINIA HYER LEDDY

Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel in Clarksville for Virginia Hyer Leddy, 80, a native of Amite County and resident of Clarksville. Rev. Lenoir Culbertson officiated. Burial was in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Mrs. Leddy passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at her residence.
Born July 30, 1929, in Amite County, Mrs. Leddy was the only child of Cecil Guy Hyer and Robbie Cockerham Hyer, both deceased.

PAUL G. CUTRER

Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb for Paul Gordon Cutrer, 58, of Smithdale and a former resident of McComb. Dr. David Millican and Rev. Randall Griffin officiated. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Cutrer, Lnny Moak, Jerry Reid, Robert House, Drew Wallace and Doug Rayborn Jr.

LAURA R. GREEN

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Centreville for Laura R. Green, 100, of Centreville. Rev. Floyd L. Matthews officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ms Green passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Born December 4, 1909, in Wilkinson County, Ms Green was the daughter of Abraham and Roxie Washington Reese, both deceased.
Ms Green was a homemaker. She was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and class leader coordinator.

GLADYS SKIPPER

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Liberty for Gladys Skipper, 68, of Liberty. Rev. Roosevelt Nunnery officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Anderson Funeral Home of Gloster in charge of arrangements.
Ms Skipper passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Jefferson Hospice Center in Jefferson, Louisiana.
Ms Skipper was born May 5, 1942.
Ms Skipper was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis James Skipper; one son, Alvin Knox; and one sister, Lucille Knox.

WILLARD SUMMERALL

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Family Funeral Services of McComb for Willard Summerall, 60, of Liberty. Bro. Brent Parker officiated. Burial was in Nunnery Family Cemetery in Liberty.
Pallbearers were Stephen Fenn, Anthony Summerall, Dusty Summerall, Zack Summerall, Thomas Fenn and Paul Fenn.
Honorary pallbearers were all of his friends and family.
Mr. Summerall passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

NANCY JONES

Funeral service were held Saturday, July 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Liberty for Nancy Lynn Dixon Jones, 57, of Liberty. Rev. Walt Gaston, Rev. Dusty Rhodes and Rev. Kevin Smith officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Jones Family Funeral Services of McComb in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jones passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Liberty Community Living Center, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born April 2, 1953, in Liberty, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of Harold and Beatrice Dixon, both deceased.
