FIRE DESTROYS HOME

Home owner June O’Brian knows what it is to lose a home to the likes of a fire. At approximately 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, a fire broke out and claimed yet another Amite County home located on Barron Road. O’Brian’s wife had left the home their home in routine for the day, leaving the home vacant.
Volunteer Fire Departments involved in helping to get the flames under control were East Central, Mars Hill, Liberty Rural and Smithdale. No injuries were reported from the residents or the firemen that risked themselves to try and save the home.
